Mission requirement
What did the project team need to understand?
Elev8 completed an aerial reality-capture acquisition of the school site, creating a detailed digital representation of the current site conditions.
- 01Capture the site as it existed on a known date
- 02Produce a three-dimensional digital representation of the site
- 03Make the site reviewable after the field team left
- 04[OWNER INPUT REQUIRED — confirm the project objective as stated by the requesting party]
Operating environment
The site determines the acquisition strategy.

Only conditions Elev8 can confirm are described here.
- Footprint
- Single contiguous site
- Setting
- Ontario school site
- Surface
- Predominantly open site with built structure
Site location is shown generalized. Precise coordinates are not published.
Mission design
Capture was designed around the required output.
Aerial imagery
USEDThe dataset was built from aerial photographic acquisition over the site.
Reality capture
USEDOverlapping imagery was processed into a three-dimensional representation of the site.
3D mesh
USEDThe processed output is a textured mesh of the site environment.
RTK / GNSS
NOT USEDNot confirmed for this project. It is not claimed until verified.
LiDAR
NOT USEDLiDAR was not used on this acquisition.
Thermal
NOT USEDNot part of this project scope.
Only capture methods Elev8 can confirm for this project are listed as used.

3D model vs SURVEY

Data layers, not a photo album.

3D
Textured reality model of the site environment.
Project outputs
One acquisition. Multiple usable datasets.
3D REALITY MODEL
Textured digital representation of the site environment.
AERIAL IMAGERY
Source imagery captured during the acquisition.
HOSTED MODEL
Browser-reviewable environment (public link pending approval).
Application
What was used, and what a dataset like this could support.
Project use — actual
- The capture created a dated digital record of the site that could be reviewed remotely after field acquisition.
Dataset potential — not client use
- Current-condition review
- Stakeholder coordination
- Progress context
- Historical record of the site on the capture date
- Comparison against a future capture of the same site
Potential applications only. Not performed on this project.
Professional responsibility
Data acquisition and professional interpretation are separate responsibilities.
Elev8 Visions performed the aerial acquisition and the agreed processing. Engineering, professional surveying, certification and regulated technical conclusions remain with the appropriate qualified professionals.
Operational lessons
What this project taught us.
Lesson 01
A hosted model spreads further than a file delivery
Stakeholders who will not open a mesh in desktop software will open a browser link. Hosting the model is what makes it get used.
Lesson 02
Oblique coverage carries the vertical structure
Nadir-only imagery reconstructs ground well and building faces poorly. Planning obliques into the same flight avoids a second mobilization.
Result
What existed after the field team left.
The acquisition produced a three-dimensional digital record of the school site as it existed on the day of capture.
